Diamondback 1260Ef Elliptical Trainer Review
Diamondback were best known for their line of exercise bikes... that is, until the Diamondback 1260Ef elliptical trainer came around. Since then, they have been building a strong reputation in the fitness equipment industry for their ellipticals. This model in particular scored a top rating in one of the most trusted consumer publications. Overall, it has a solid, durable construction and is very comfortable to use. There are a few features though that really make this model stand out.
Diamondback 1260Ef Features
For a higher-end elliptical, the 1260Ef is on the lower end for space requirements. At just under 70" in length, it has a compact design that makes it fit into even tight spaces. But although it is small, it's tough. This elliptical weighs almost 250 lbs, making it one of the sturdiest elliptical trainers of its size. The weight also means it will support heavier users than most machines. This is one elliptical where you can take the weight limit of 325 lbs at face value... it will support this weight.
Like many other ellipticals, the 1260Ef has an adjustable incline, so you can up the intensity of your workouts to suit you and target different lower body muscle groups. What's nice about this elliptical however is the short step-up. The foot pedals are closer to the ground, making it easier to get on and off the machine. The pedals are also set closer together, which makes for a more comfortable ride especially for people who are on the shorter side.
There are five heart rate programs, and you can monitor your heart rate either with the handle-grips or with the wireless hart rate control. You can also set your target heart rate, and lock it in. The LED console is easy to use, and attractive to look at. You can easily adjust your workouts as you go along, and get feedback. The LED display is larger than most, and is very easy to read at a glance. Other programs include a personal trainer function, three cross-training programs and five classic programs that also have a quick-start option.
Value for Money
This elliptical retails for somewhere around the mid $2,000 range, but you can find it for less if you look around online. The warranty is pretty good, with limited lifetime coverage on the frame and the brake, and five years for parts and electronics. The coverage for labor and part wear is one year and ninety days respectively, so purchasing extended coverage is recommended.
Bottom Line
There is nothing bad to say about the Diamondback 1260Ef elliptical trainer. It's a space-saving, durable, high-performance workout machine that is well worth buying.
