Proform 10.0 ZE Elliptical Trainer

The Proform 10.0 ZE elliptical trainer is a relatively new addition to company's range, and the buzz so far has been overwhelmingly positive. Proform is well knows for making budget (or entry-level) ellipticals for the home user, but this model is their best of the bunch. For a low ticket price, you get lots of good features and reliable performance.

Proform 10.0 ZE Features

What makes this model stand out in the budget elliptical area is the adjustable stride lengths. Most lower priced trainers come with one maximum stride length, which may not accommodate all users in a household. The Proform 10.0 ZE, on the other hand, has stride lengths of 13", 15" and 18". If you're over 6 feet tall this may still be too small for you, but it's great for most people who want to vary their stride and target different muscle groups in their lower body. Short people will appreciate this even more, since many ellipticals are simply too long of a stride and uncomfortable.

This trainer is compatible with iFit, so you can easily expand on the 8 weight loss workouts that come programmed with the machine. There are also 12 resistance levels, and heart rate monitoring on the hand grips.

Another nice feature is that this trainer is a rear-drive. Rear-drives tend to be more comfortable, and allow you to workout in a more natural, aligned position.

Best of all? You can fold it up for easy storage... and despite this, the build quality is much improved over their other budget models. It feels solid, and runs quietly.

Value for Money

Although the warranty with Proform ellipticals isn't great (one year parts and labor), the $599 price tag combined with the build quality and features make this a great value for the majority of home users. It's not easy to find a reliable elliptical in this price range, but Proform has finally made one. The weight limit is set a bit too high, but other than that there's not much wrong with this machine at all.

Bottom Line

Normally cheap ellipticals are not highly recommended in reviews because they tend to be unstable and wobbly, as well as prone to breaking down. While it's too early to say how durable the 10.0 ZE elliptical trainer really is, so far it's a great machine for regular home users, especially if space is at a premium. Well worth checking out.
