Space Saver Elliptical Trainers

Want to work out with an elliptical machine but afraid you just don't have room? You'll be glad to know that there are space saver elliptical trainers now available.

Here we look at the different types and some tips on buying them.

There are 2 types of space saver ellipticals. The first is the small machine that is designed to have a small footprint. These are often 'budget' machines that are not as robust as the units that you would get in a professional gym. That being said, many people are more than happy with them for home use. They can either have magnetic or belt resistance.

The second type of space saver is the type that is designed to fold away. These look more like the machines that you are used to using down the gym. Their performance is also similar and they are invariably magnetic resistance ellipticals. They are manufactured by some of the top brand names in the fitness industry so you have the peace of mind that you are getting a quality product that is designed to last. Names to look out for include the Proform 850, Proform 925 and NordicTrack Spacesaver.

When purchasing make sure that you check the size of the units when they are both in use and the size folded up. The folded size can be typically half the length of the machine in operation, but the height will remain the same. If you have a closet that you want to fit it into, make sure that the size is appropriate.

A good idea is to try and find some online reviews from people that have previously purchased. In particular look to see if the space saver elliptical that you are considering is easy to fold and unfold. If the process isn't quick I can guarantee that one of 2 things will happen. Either the machine will just be left out and not packed away. In which case there is no point in getting a space-saver. The other thing that could happen is that it is packed away and never sees the light of day again.
